Hockey Pool Winners!
The results are in! Congratulations to our first place winner Rob Jorgenson!! A warm round of applause for our 2nd and 3rd place finishers George Amaro and Robert Kerr. Well done Tyler Augustus who has managed to earn his entry fee back by finishing last.
I really enjoyed the pool and I hope you all did as well! We plan to do it again next year so hopefully you will all join in again – let us know if you would like to see any changes.
Thank you again for supporting Markham Womens Ringette!!
League ends the year together in Hamilton!
It was a great weekend for both the Pylons and the Cougars! Everyone had a lot of fun together at the rinks, restaurants and hotel and it was really great to see members of both teams hanging around to cheer each other on.
In their semi-final on Saturday afternoon the Pylons worked hard, but came up just short in their loss to Hamilton. Everyone said they had a great time and can’t wait to get on the ice again. Most of the team hung around the two hours between the end of their game and the start of the Cougars final game to watch the Cougars win another championship!
There were lots of photos taken and we’ll be posting them shortly. If you have any you would like to share please email them to Jackie!
Adult Cup Update – Pylons and Cougars shoot for finals!
Two games for the Cougars yesterday resulted in two wins! Sharilyn’s been playing great in net and has only allowed a total of three goals (one of which Jackie scored on her). The next game is the finals today at 5:00pm.
Hopefully the Pylons will be playing in a final at 6pm tonight, all they need to do is beat Hamilton today at 2pm. They played even better last night than Thursday night, so they are definitely starting to peak for the semis and finals!
Check the photos page for some pictures taken yesterday and check back later tonight for final results!
Pylons playing hard.
The Pylons opened the Adult Challenge cup with a hard fought battle with Hamilton Thursday night. It was a back and forth game with both teams working hard. Unfortunately Hamilton got the last goal with less than a minute left in the game, resulting in a 5-4 loss for the Pylons. However the solid effort put forth by the team sets them up for a great game against Pickering tomorrow night!
The Cougars will open their tournament at 11:00am tomorrow against Etobicoke, then they’ll play Caledonia at 5:00pm followed by the Pylons vs. Pickering showdown at 6:00pm!
A great year!
Thank you to everyone who came out to the Annual General Meeting last Friday. It was a lot of fun and there was lots of great feedback from everyone. I’ve posted the slideshow we were playing on You Tube, but you can also find it on our Photos page. We’ve also posted the AGM Report on the Executive section of the website. If you couldn’t make the AGM and you would like to register early for next year to save some money please email us by the end of April or the offer will expire!
Good luck to the Cougars and Pylons who are both playing in Hamilton this weekend! It’s going to be a lot of fun!!

See you soon!
AGM Report and Agenda
Hi everyone,
Just a reminder that the AGM is on Friday, April 3 at 6:30 p.m. We wanted to pass on some light reading so we are sending the Executive Reports electronically to try and save on paper (and the boredom of listening to us read them!). We will give a brief summary at the AGM but if you want more depth you should read the entire report.
See you Friday!
Her Majesty, Queen Anne.
AGM, Calendar and PYLONS!!
Just a reminder to start – the Annual Meeting is this Friday Thornhill Community Centre in the Fireside Lounge starting at 6:30pm. Hope to see you there!
We’ve also changed the calendar on the website slightly, you can navigate far into the future and see what’s going on next fall or even next January. If you use Google Calendar you can even search for the MWRA public calendar and add it to your own!
Last, but not least, Congratulations to the Pylons! They didn’t make the final this past weekend, but I’ve heard that they played very well and had a lot of fun – good job, can’t wait to see you in Hamilton!! (Check out the Photos page for more pictures).
